Happy 2024 Everyone!!!
A new year equals new beginnings
Wow, its so hard to believe that 2023 will soon be in our rearview window.
This year brought a lot of changes that I didn’t see coming. But, I adjusted my strategy, and clung to my deep friendships and family.
My mother in love (law) was diagnosed with breast cancer in July. Suddenly my days were spent counting down to chemo, every Friday. I placed ALL of my focus on mom.
Something that helped all of us cope was what I called chemo card Fridays. Every Friday when she had chemo my husband would pick up chick fil a breakfast for her. Then we would head to their house and see her off and give her a card. We tried to find funny ones or something that would make her smile. A lot of the time we would also bring a small gift. After a bit she would wait for us at the door in excitement waiting for her next card and present.
It helped all of us shift our focus from the fear and worry to just embracing and treasuring each other and our family bonds and friendships.
I’m happy to say that the chemo is working and it has shrunk the tumor 100%. Her last chemo session is in 3 weeks. Then we will be finding out what surgery and radiation will look like. But I feel like we are all seeing the light at the end of a dark tunnel.
I don’t know what 2024 is going to hold but I know that whatever happens, I can handle it. I’m one tough cookie.
I hope all of you have an EPIC New Years Eve and New Years Day. I’ll see you in 2024! Thanks for being a faithful readers 🎉🥳
